In preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, teens gathered together on retreat to deepen their connection to each other, their community, and their relationship with Christ.

The St. Matthew the Evangelist Women’s Club enjoyed an afternoon at Fenway Park on Sunday, August 6th to see the Boston Red Sox play the Toronto Blue Jays.

Father Jean celebrated his 15th year of ordination to the priesthood along with his recent graduation with us this weekend in a beautiful Mass followed by a celebration in the Parish Hall.

There was loads of fun, singing and learning about Babylon. Each day we learned about Daniel’s courageous faith in God while enjoying exciting music, games, crafts, and bible stories.

Father Chris became pastor of Saint Matthew the Evangelist on July 1, 2023. He previously served at Our Lady of Good Council in Lawrence and Methuen for 13 years as pastor. He is looking forward to getting to meet and know all the parishioners of Saint Matthew Parish.

On Thursday, June 15, 2023 Fr. Jean graduated from Newburgh Theological Seminary, College of the Bible in Newburgh Indiana, with a PhD in Biblical Studies.

On Sunday, June 4 at the 10AM Mass parishioners, fellow priests and Bishop Hennessey gathered to celebrate Mass at St. Theresa church.

On April 11th we held a parish wide meeting as an opportunity for parishioners to express thoughts and feedback concerning topics relating to pastoral, financial, and building matters at St. Matthew the Evangelist.

We have reached our assessment for the 2023 Catholic Appeal!! Thank you for your generosity! One of the most meaningful ways that we witness the presence of Christ and deepen the impact of our Church’s ministries is by supporting the Catholic Appeal.

Students and families delivered Easter baskets to residents on Saturday, April 1st !

We continue to work on the buildings and facilities in the parish and are happy to share with you updates of the progress. It is beautiful on its own, but also an important piece of the history and legacy of St Mary’s, and of St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta’s visit there. We’re going to add an icon of St. Theresa to make the installation complete!

Father Aveni spoke to the parish this weekend. Father Aveni's appointment as pastor of Saint Matthew Parish in Billerica will be ending at the regular time of transfers in June of 2023.

Last week we began our annual Grand Annual stewardship campaign. As you know, our yearly campaign is an integral part of the financial structure of our Parish.

The Easter Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
