2026 Catholic Appeal Together, We Are One This year, the Catholic Appeal invites us to reflect on a new theme: “Together We Are One.” That theme captures something very real about our Church. Through Christ, we are united as one body and one community.
As many of you may know, the Catholic Appeal is the annual campaign of the Archdiocese of Boston that provides nearly half of the funding for the important ministries supporting our parish and churches.
In his first year with us, Archbishop Henning has highlighted the unity he sees throughout our parishes, ministries, and our Archdiocese. Together We Are One reflects this vision. It speaks to the deep connectedness of our Church and the strength we share when we act together in faith, generosity, and mission. With an emphasis on parish life, Archbishop Henning’s focus will be to build and sustain meaningful places of worship. All of us play a meaningful role in sustaining the ministries that ensure thriving parish life. When all participate, our impact is strengthened and multiplied.
We invite you to view this short video from Archbishop Henning.
On the local level, here at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish, the work of the Appeal provides guidance, support, and training for many people working in our parish including: • Our Faith Formation Team, including Adult Faith Formation and the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults); ongoing support for the Clergy and Pastoral Staff. • Support regarding maintenance and facilities. • The Appeal also provides guidance and training for Deacons serving not only our parish, but Deacons throughout the Archdiocese.
The Catholic Appeal raises money to support all of our parishes, and the many ministries that serve our neighbors in need throughout 144 communities in the Archdiocese of Boston. Its purpose is to sustain, strengthen, and grow the mission of our Church—so that no parish, ministry, or person carries that mission alone. All of this lets us say that Together, We Are One.
No parish on it’s on could ever afford to employ a team of experts that Fr. Chris and our parish have relied upon multiple times – offering local assistance providing a wide range of support including benefits, risk-management, and finance. That’s why we rely on the ministries funded by the Appeal for many our programs and support.
When we give to the Catholic Appeal, we live out this year’s theme in a very real way. This year, we are hoping for 100% participation. No gift is too small—every gift matters—because it is our unity in participation that allows the Church’s mission to reach farther than any one of us could alone.
This campaign is not about a few people doing more—it is about all of us recognizing that we belong to one another. Our support of the Catholic Appeal is truly a gift to the future—the future of our community, our Church, and the faith we pass on.
In preparation, we invite you to prayerfully consider making a generous gift. To make an online pledge, please visit www.bostoncatholicappeal.org or use the QR code below. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of the 2026 Catholic Appeal.
